7 Year Old Cardinal Fan in Search of World Series Statistics....Historical List of Winners

Since my 7 year old son, Jack, has asked me a MILLION statistically-related questions about the upcoming face-off between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Boston Red Sox in the 2013 World Series, I thought I would just pull together a comprehensive list of World Series contenders and results from 1903 - 2012.  Jack, here you go.  Feel free to scroll through and chart, graph, plot, quantify, qualify, and whatever-ify to your hearts' content!

In Summary, Cardinals have been to the World Series 18 times, winning 11 (2nd only to NY Yankees' 27 wins).  Let's hope for #12 in 2013!

Addendum: Well, it was tough fight and an exciting run, but sadly the Cards did not pull it off this year....Yet, I am thankful they did so well throughout the 2013 playoffs to reach the World Series....But, in the end, the Red Sox won 4-2....I wanted to share a cute article the Boston Red Sox placed in the November 4, 2013 St. Louis Post Dispatch....

Since the below photo text is hard to read....Text is as follows:

"From one great baseball town to another.
On behalf of our partners and the entire Red Sox organization, thank you St. Louis. The warm Midwestern welcome you extended to our team and our fans during this year’s hard-fought World Series is truly appreciated. Your region, its people, and the entire Cardinals organization represent everything that’s great about baseball.
We share the same colors and rich, storied baseball history that stretches from Musial and Williams, to Molina and Pedroia. We’re both home to the most loyal, passionate fans in the game {my text here: StL the classiest fans}. And the four World Series in which we’ve gone head-to-head are still etched in the memories of those who love our sport.
So we tip our hats to each and every one of you. We look forward to seeing you again next August. Let’s hope that it’s just a prelude to meeting again in October."
