Drew Berrymore's OKL Tastemaker Tag Sale...

Recently on One Kings Lane (OKL), actress Drew Berrymore featured furniture and accessory pieces from her personal collection, with a portion of the sale proceeds going to donorschoose.org.  Who doesn't love adorable Drew Berrymore? I have always admired this actress for her free-spirited, exuberant, quirky, and authentic self.  As silly as the movie may be, I particularly loved her performance along side Adam Sandler (another favorite actor) in 50 First Dates.

Her OKL collection has a wide variety of reasonably priced, vintage-y pieces with an eclectic, colorful vibe.  I picked a few of my favorites to share below.

Tastemaker Tag Sales

Star Style

From One Kings Lane..."She first captivated us as the adorable pigtailed Gertie inE.T., but, born into the legendary Barrymore acting dynasty, Drew was predestined to be a star. She’s grown up, branched out, and soared since then, but she never lost her unique charm, free spirit, and irresistible brand of approachability. Her home style follows suit: Funky, eclectic, and from the heart, the environments she creates are all about comfort, inspiration, discovery, and things she loves.
Every item here is from Drew's personal collection. A portion of the sale proceeds go to donorschoose.org."

One Kings Lane FB page shared a cute article about Drew's collection in the following Domainehome.com link...

An excerpt from this article touches on Barrymore's design philosophies and strategies...

"Now you can add discerning decorator to Drew Barrymore’s expansive skill set. Yesterday, the award winning actor, producer, and philanthropist launched a Tastemaker Tag Sale with One Kings Lane and (as expected) her personal collection sold out in minutes. We sat down with Barrymore before the sale and chatted about the process of collecting, finding her design style, and learning to let go....

Living in Layers: With her first home, Drew approached decorating decisions with the same head-first ambition familiar to most impulsive design enthusiasts. “It was mostly furniture that I put together myself,” Barrymore laughs, “so lets just say that it never really came together.” After her first go-around, Barrymore took a decidedly slower approach. “I started buying thrifty-antiques,” she says, adding, “I was patient. I scoured.” Discovering it’s okay to live with the process, Drew embarked on the more thoughtful journey of bringing in pieces that not necessarily “matched,” but went well together—creating a space in which furniture and accents could have a dialogue. “I bought decorative things to go with the furniture I found,” she says, resulting in a sociable mix of colorful accessories, retro pieces, and classic furniture.
A New Drew: Having unearthed a fresher, more careful approach to design, Drew was able to strike a happy balance between vintage and new–developing a taste that now reflected the quintessential cool of a girl who has grown up on screen while able to maintain her down-to-earth sensibilities. These days, she’s ready to simplify, at least when it comes to her home. She married art consultant Will Kopelman in the summer of 2012, and the couple now have a one-year-old daughter. “When you co-habitate with another person, when your awesomely cool guest room becomes a nursery and your life changes so much, you’re forced to streamline.”
Design Insomnia: Luckily, all these life changes haven’t altered her her love of decorating. Like the rest of us, Drew finds herself open to changes whenever genius strikes. To refresh a space on a whim, she recommends rethinking color. “Paint is a powerful thing. It’s hard to nail the right color from a paint swatch, but when you do find room changing colors, it really is an achievement.” Aside from cleaning out excess furniture and repainting, Barrymore recommends working with what you’ve got. “My favorite thing to do on earth is to have a furniture rearranging party,” she says, adding, “That can be at one p.m. or one a.m. There is never a bad time to reinvent the things you have.”
