It is nothing new or novel in the world of design. But lately, I have been loving it: the rythmic, geometrically pleasing pattern of the classic buffalo check (BC). Some may argue it is an antiquated, over-done, French country look. But, when mixed with more contemporary features, (a Moroccan mirror or funky light fixture, for example), it can serve as that one traditional design element that grounds a space. Furthermore, when incorporated in a larger scale (the bigger the better!) it can take on a more modern vibe, with a statement graphic punch. Personally, I love the buffalo check when used in either a traditional or modern design.
