I recently re-did my foyer table with a fun mix of blue and white chinoiserie pieces, faux boxwood greens, and hot pink flowers...Literally a few weeks later, when the June 2015 House Beautiful magazine arrived, I was so excited to see the gorgeous cover of blue and white porcelain! Originating in China, these canton/ginger jars have been gracing interiors for centuries, yet they are timeless in their versatility. From vases to lamps to planters, these gems provide an old world vibe, often in contrast to more modern design elements in their surroundings.
Ever since my Mom selected these blue and white Chinese lamps for her living room decades ago, I have had a love for blue and white chinoiserie.
I wanted to share some of my design photos incorporating blue and white porcelain as well as blue and white inspired interiors by the many talented designers out there...

To add a little life to our basement space, we recently painted our bookshelf interiors orange, so I added a few pops of blue and orange to give this space a less-basement-y vibe... |

(blue and white porcelain is often displayed as a collection on a wall, and although dramatic, I am not a big fan of 30 vases perched on a wall surrounding a headboard, for example...It just seems a bit too staged and fussy. YET, I love this more simplified version, and the rich diversity of materials and textures here is genious) |

What are YOUR favorite blue and white inspiration photos?
Love your decorating style. What paint colors did you use in your foyer, basement and kitchen? Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind feedback! We actually moved into this home with paint already completed....From my search of the paint cans left in the basement I believe the colors are as follows: Kitchen, Foyer are SW Macademia and Basket Beige....Basement is Buff. Hope this helps!
DeleteVery helpful. Thank you! Is the master bedroom SW Basket Beige, too?
DeleteThank you,
Master is Quiver Tan (but not sure if that is SW or BM)...Thanks for visiting my blog! Enjoy the summer!
