Non-Buyer's Remorse and the Discovery of ETSY Kilims....

I recently wavered over the purchase of a $350 Anatolian Kilim runner from One Kings Lane for my children's bathroom, but decided against it. The following day, I regretted not buying it, but of course it had already sold. SO, I started to look for other sources, as I figured there must be other ways to find these beautiful vintage wool rugs.

I was surprised to see that you can purchase them directly from Turkish vendors via ETSY. I have never purchased anything Internationally via ETSY, but I suspect there are hoops a vendor must go through to be a legit seller. I would be a bit cautious, but I suspect it is likely a safe bet, and the shipping is really reasonable. The prices range from more to less affordable (and I suspect the quality follows) but the selection is outstanding! I have always had a love for Persian rugs, (which are truly an investment piece) but I consider these to be a less formal, more affordable, alternative that can add a fun/Bohemian/funky vibe to a space...They really can add energy to a space via their graphic patterns and pops of color. They could work in any family room, children's room, bathroom, or hallway....Here are some of my favorites! I noted prices for rugs under each photo, and the pillow covers ranged from approx $19-$39, WAY less expensive than other sources I have seen out there. What sets these hand made rugs apart from their mass-produced counterparts is the richly colored vegetable dyes used in the process...You just cannot mimic these beautiful organic colors from a factory.
