Notre Dame Home

Long time no see! I have missed blogging and wanted to jump back in to document our journey on a new design adventure!  We recently decided to invest in a home in South Bend near Notre Dame. Our son started as a freshmen and we quickly learned that hotels book way far in advance for football and other big weekends (move-in, parents weekend, graduation, etc) and they are often no-cancel within 60 days making the planning and logistics hectic. As we will be frequenting South Bend often over the next four years, we figured it would be a good investment and we could rent it out for various weekends throughout the year for rental income.  The Eddy Street Commons area is a new neighborhood development next to campus offering restaurants, bars, shops, and tons of housing for local residents, students, professors.  We figured it would be fun to find a place in walking distance to this vibrant area as well as campus for accessibility. 

We looked at a few different condos around town, and loved a newly renovated townhome designed by the talented Flourish Interiors. It was in a good location, less than a mile to campus, spacious with several bedrooms, and a decent parking situation with one dedicated space and possible (optional) garage. The interiors were evidently inspired by the lovely Morris Inn hotel near campus with varying shades of blues, golds, cream/off-white, brass and wood finishes, plaids, and saddle colored leather furniture and decorative nods to ND (the original painting of the ND campus in the sitting room off the kitchen was divine!).  Soon-after visiting campus for the home college football playoff game, we discovered a newly built home around the corner from this townhome, completed externally but only framed internally. So, we decided to make an offer and work with the designers of the townhome to give our home a similar design vibe with a little more space and better parking capabilities.

I plan to create separate blog posts for the different selection items so I can keep all of the sources and photos organized.
