Mary McDonald & Martyn Lawrence Bullard Collaboration for One King's Lane

Mary McDonald + Martyn Lawrence Bullard = Beautiful collaborative collection for One Kings Lane (OKL).  Although the project initially got off to a rocky start (as suggested on Bravo's Million Dollar Decorator show) with drama-filled meetings, battling egos, and conflicting design aesthetics, they ultimately worked through their challenges to produce a stunning product line, exclusive to OKL.  The line included Mary's iconic bold graphics and chevron stripes, Martyn's flair for the eccentric (i.e. (seemingly) snake obsession), bold jewel tones, Suzanni and Ikat motifs, gold and silver metallics, and natural finishes/textures including wood, bone, inlay designs, etc.

They traveled to Jaipur, India, with OKL founder, Susan Feldman to research, design, and coordinate the manufacturing of their line.  It was interesting to see how their travels through Jaipur influenced and shaped their designs.  They remarked that the Indian culture, architecture, and landmarks were filled with bright beautiful colors, bold graphic designs, and an overall aesthetic that had been "perfected over centuries."  It was also fun to watch the two designer's traveling quirks, including Mary's obsession with petting and holding babies and animals, and Martyn's skittishness at her overly-friendly ways.  Overall, it looks like they had a ball traveling and finding inspiration in this beautiful country.

Susan Feldman, later hosted a holiday party to celebrate and showcase their final collection.  She decorated her home with unique festive touches to complement the collection, including rosemary wreaths hanging on guest chair backs, tons of bold red votives with candles, beautifully wrapped party favors that doubled as place cards, and simple yet elegant paperwhite flowers in vintage glass vases.....
